About Us

Who are the Friends?

The Friends are a group of people who are bonded together by their appreciation for Huddart and Wunderlich Parks. They are a combination of volunteers, donors, paid staff, and board members - all collaborating with the park rangers to preserve and protect these special resources.

It is easy to become part of the Friends community. Start by visiting the parks, where you will discover the fascinating natural and historical treasures of these unique areas of San Mateo County. Then find out how you can volunteer or donate to the ongoing efforts that help make these parks flourish for all who visit.

History

The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks organization was founded in 1992 and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2002. Dedicated to environmental education and land conservation, the early programs of the Friends supported various aspects of park management. The Friends activities have expanded over the years and docents now provide children's hikes in Huddart Park, as well as promote exhibits, give guided tours, and assist with school programs at the the Folger Estate Stable historic site in Wunderlich Park.
